First Communion:

Penance is the Second Sacrament of Initiation
The Sacrament of Penance is an experience of the gift of God's boundless mercy.  Not only does it free us from our sins but it also challenges us to have the same kind of compassion and forgiveness for those who sin against us.  We are liberated to be forgivers.  We obtain new insight into the words of the Prayer of St. Francis: "It is in pardoning that we are pardoned."

Jesus entrusted the ministry of reconciliation to the Church.  The Sacrament of Penance is God's gift to us so that any sin committed after Baptism can be forgiven.  In confession we have the opportunity to repent and recover the grace of friendship with God. It is a holy moment in which we place ourselves in his presence and honestly acknowledge our sins, especially mortal sins.  With absolution, we are reconciled to God and the Church. The Sacrament helps us stay close to the truth that we cannot live without God. "In him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28). While all the Sacraments bring us an experience of the mercy that comes from Christ's dying and rising, it is the Sacrament of Reconciliation that is the unique Sacrament of mercy.

Holy Communion is the Third Sacrament of Initiation

The Sacrament of Holy Eucharist is, one of the sacraments that we can receive every day after our First Holy Communion day. Many people have a misconception that the Holy Eucharist is mearely a symbol of Jesus' body or the last supper.  Some consider it just a sharing of a meal in remembrance of the Last Supper of Jesus.  When you or your child is about to receive Holy Communion, your strong belief that you are receiving Jesus' Body takes you to a state of grace. Words cannot explain the joy you feel.  Imagine the king of Kings or the one, who loves you most, is visiting your home! How could you prepare for this visit? Do you feel the same way when you prepare and receive Jesus through Holy Communion?
 The Holy Eucharist refers to Christ’s Body and Blood present in the consecrated host on the altar, and as Catholics we believe that the consecrated bread and wine are actually the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ. For Catholics, the presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist isn't just symbolic, it’s real. In Holy Communion, we are eating the True Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, without which "you shall not have life in you" John 6:53. this is our Faith.

1. FIRST PENANCE &FIRST EUCHARIST PROGRAM FOR FIRST COMMUNION:
   1. Students NOT Baptized must notify the PCL to assist in this matter.
   2. The Book: Jesus Brings Us Life is for class room use only.
   3. Study folder with Prayers, & Basic Catholic Teachings are Homework.
   4. Students should Miss only for Illness.
   5. Students are tested on the items in that folder.
   6. One Mandatory Retreat is held at the end of the year that must be attend.
   7. Parents help students learn the material in their folders & bring folders to every class
   8. Student should be taken to Mass to learn the order of the Mass & the 3rd Commandment.

Attend Meetings, Retreat Closing, Rehearsal, & be One Hour early to the Ceremony to reflect.
