The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney as a fraternal benefit society. The Knights was formed to render financial aid to members and their families.
The order is still true to it's founding priciples of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. In the presents time, they continue to offer aid and assistance to the sick, disabled and needy members and their families. The Knights of Columbus also provide support for the church, religious groups, education, youth, the community, social welfare, public relief works, and other charitable projects. The Knights stand firm on the belief of pro-life. The order is proud of their devotion to God and country, and believe in standing up for both.
The local Eagle Lake Council #4843 is on of over 14,000 councils throughtout the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Poland and 12 other countries of the world. The order includes over 1.8 million Caholic members.
